Future trends in enterprise architecture

Dr. Ahmed A.: Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a discipline that implements information technology in a business to augment new strategies which will increase the baseline of an enterprise. EA is therefore employed to: –

• Strategically correct flawed processes in an enterprise and,
• Innovatively bind these strategies together.

The goal is to structure and analyze specific information to create a solution that will ultimately, provide a proposed services that would benefit the enterprise.

The disruption that COVID-19 caused to businesses will result in new trends in the EA such as: –

• Organizations will utilize tools that focus on business outcomes, automation and analytics.
• EA will focus on the application migration to the cloud.

Therefore, the best cloud migration strategy is the one that have an in depth understanding of the business values and criticality of an application.

Business transaction will be done remotely due to remote working which will result in more cybersecurity risks. EA will mitigate these threats by: –

• Monitoring vulnerabilities to examine their outcomes on the business capabilities.
• EA tools are going to have different focuses which will be typically data-driven.
• An EA will draw the architecture basically derived from the data put into the tools.

The improvement of an organizations will only be possible with increasing the speed of decision-making by: –

• The use of technology and data to improve the enterprise.
• Remove any obstacles that make the development slow.
• Ensure timeous completion of applications.

A digital twin of an organization is a dynamic software model of any organization. This software model is utilized to respond to potential changes in an organization. The aims of a digital twin are to: –

• Create a virtual representation of a company which will be integrated with the physical product, therefore allowing any analysis to be done without disrupting the original.
• Continuously implement changes necessary for the organization to survive.
